A digital product passport (DPP) is a public record of a product’s origin, materials, substances, repairability and end of life, reached by scanning a QR code on the product or its packaging. The EU is making it mandatory step by step, and the first product groups are just around the corner.

What the regulation says

The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 (ESPR) entered into force in July 2024. It sets the general rules for the passport, while the exact data required for each product group is defined in separate delegated acts:

Why it matters for your store

Even before your product group is covered, a passport is a strong differentiator. Shoppers increasingly want to know what they are buying, marketplaces and B2B customers are starting to ask for this data, and preparing it product by product takes time. Starting early turns a future obligation into a selling point today.

How our addon solves it
