The General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988, known as GPSR, has applied since 13 December 2024. It replaced the old General Product Safety Directive and, for the first time, spells out what an online offer must show about the product’s safety.
What the regulation says
Article 19 of the GPSR requires every product offered online to clearly display, at least:
- the manufacturer’s name, registered trade name or trade mark, and its postal and electronic address;
- when the manufacturer is not established in the EU, the name and contact details of the responsible economic operator in the EU;
- information that identifies the product, including a picture, its type and any other identifier (batch, model, barcode);
- any warning or safety information that must appear on the product or its packaging, in a language consumers can easily understand.
Why it matters for your store
GPSR is a regulation, so it applies directly in every Member State, and online marketplaces already remove listings that lack this information. Penalties are set by each country and can be significant. For a shop with hundreds of products the challenge is practical: platforms store a brand, but not the manufacturer’s full address, the EU responsible person or translated warnings.
How our addon solves it
Product Safety Info (GPSR) stores that information once and prints it on every product page:
- Company directory of manufacturers and EU responsible persons, with store defaults so own-brand shops set things up in minutes.
- Product identifiers reused from the reference, EAN, UPC, ISBN or MPN you already have, so nothing is typed twice.
- Translated warnings per product and language.
- Completeness report listing every product as complete, missing information or not applicable, with a filter to work through the gaps.
- Native block or tab on the product page, styled by your theme and without JavaScript.
Available for PrestaShop, WooCommerce and Drupal Commerce, with documentation in three languages, new versions for life and 6 months of support.
